Type Swimwear is all about body confidence. We believe that you can wear our swimwear whatever your age, size, shape or body size. But we also understand that some of you will want to tone your body and lose a little weight before you head for the beach. With that in mind, here are 10 bikini body workout tips that may help you to achieve your goals.

Losing weight is not like an exam: you can’t cram a few days before or try to pull all-nighters. Set yourself goals you can actually achieve, and you’ll maintain your motivation. There’s nothing more dispiriting than working out for weeks before your holiday only to find your bikini still doesn’t fit. Aim to gradually become trimmer and more confident. Crash diets that make your weight plummet aren’t sustainable: you’re likely to find yourself back to your old weight a few days into your holiday.

Any time is a good time to exercise, but first thing in the morning is ideal. A morning workout stops you from procrastinating and gives you the energy to tackle your day. Plan out your meals and your shopping to minimise the waste of perishable food. A food journal can help you keep track of your intake of essential nutrients and spot when you snack. If you can’t find enough essential fatty acids in your journal or meal plans, you can take them as a supplement. Take the opportunity to learn new recipes filled with fresh and nutritious ingredients, like lean meat, eggs, nuts (if you can eat them safely!), seeds, vegetables, beans, and even oats. Simply changing your bread and pasta to wholewheat can make a difference.

Arm and Leg Exercises Give You Confidence in Your Bikini

To be beach body ready, you need to exercise your whole body, with weights as well as cardio. Building up your muscles will burn energy even after the workout is over, bringing you that bit closer to your fitness goals. Combine your sit ups with crunches, leg lifts, planks, and Russian twists.

Swimming, running, and cycling are all good sports to get you to your fitness goals, working out your legs, core, heart, and arms. Running uphill is extra exercise for your core, while squats are necessary for your legs and gluteals. The most efficient way to burn energy is in quick bursts followed by an easier pace. Try 30 seconds of hard fast activity and then 1.5 minutes at a gentler speed. Repeat for 20-30 minutes. To make the most of your workout, you’ll need water before, during, and after.

Easy Changes to Help You on The Way to The Beach

Alcohol is full of calories: just swapping to flavoured water can give you a headstart to losing weight. Carbonation can make you look bloated, but sparkling water still has only 5% of the calories of cola. Swap the milk chocolate for dark chocolate, ice cream for yoghurt, and sweets for dried fruit. At Type Swimwear, we don’t want you to compromise joy for a healthier body. Choose a sport that you can enjoy with a friend, and keep an exercise journal in a book or on an app. The more you do, the easier it is to make it part of your routine.

Exercise should be an act of love for your body, not punishment. Type Swimwear was founded by Ines, an architecture undergrad who knew her heart lay in fashion. Her vision was for beautiful swimwear made with quality fabric, to bring self-confidence to the wearer. You deserve to be out on the beach, looking and feeling your very best.
